Welcome to the Insurance Brokers of Toronto Region!  We are a non-profit association here to help promote the independent insurance broker, provide avenues for continuing education, support local charities and community outreach programs, and be a voice for all insurance brokers in our community.  Thank you for taking the time to visit our website.

Stopping Paper Invitations

Dear Members & Sponsors,

In an ongoing effort to streamline our communications and reduce our impact on the environment, the IBTR Board of Directors has decided to stop mailing paper invitations for our luncheons and events, to brokerage and sponsor offices. This will also allow us to reduce our costs and continue to bring the most value out of your membership dollars. We will continue to notify you via email and through our website.

If you wish to continue receiving a paper invitation please contact Andrea Raspa at social@ibtr.org, no later than April 7, 2017.

Furthermore, please ensure that any and all members who would like to receive our email invitations subscribe to our IBTR email list. You can easily do so by completing the “Subscribe to our e-mailing list” area at the bottom of this page.

Your Board of Directors,

2016 – A Year in Review from our President

It’s hard to believe that 2016 has already come to an end.  It’s been an exciting year at IBTR, with the launch of our new logo, website and many successful luncheons and annual events. Our new website will allow our member brokerages to post employment opportunities as well as view Resumes of Seneca College graduates.

We celebrated “25 Years of Friendships” with our 25th Anniversary of Friendship Night.  Our annual Golf Tournament was another great success, being blessed with a great turnout despite the cold weather.  Maybe a hot chocolate vendor and not an ice cream truck would have been better suited!  We built on that momentum and once again had a fantastic Summer Social at Woodbine Racetrack.  Lastly, our Murder Mystery Holiday Luncheon brought entertainment to all in attendance.

We have been actively building the brand of the Broker Channel in the Toronto Region by becoming the title sponsor of “Inn from the Cold Newmarket”.  We expanded our sponsorship of grassroots sports teams by sponsoring 8 local house league teams in the GTA of various sports.  Once again the board gathered with the help of some local brokers to build a playground for a terminally ill child with the assistance of Million Dollar Smiles.  A $5,000.00 donation to the Red Cross for Fort McMurray Relief on behalf of the IBTR and its members and sponsors.  These are a few different Community Outreach opportunities  we have participated in, I could go on but I won’t.

What’s in store for 2017?  The IBTR board is pleased to announce that we will be providing two complimentary luncheon tickets to all member brokerages with your paid membership.  We are extremely pleased to have booked The Honorable Francesco Sorbara Liberal MP for Vaughan-Woodbridge sitting in the House of Commons Standing Committee of Finance, to speak at our 2017 Summer Social (August 15, 2017), as well as many other great speakers throughout the year.

I would like to finish off by thanking all of our valuable sponsors, without your support many of the events we hold and participate in would not be possible. The 2017 Sponsorship Brochure is now available in the sponsorship section of our website.  I would also like to thank each member of the Board of Directors, I truly appreciate all your tireless efforts in helping build the best affiliate.  Lastly but not least Andrea Raspa, who without we would be lost. Thank you from all of us.

We look forward to seeing you at our luncheons and many annual events during 2017.

Frank Silla, CAIB, President – IBTR
