2017 – A Year in Review from our President

It’s hard to believe that 2017 has already come to an end. It was an exciting year at IBTR as we hosted many successful luncheons, seminars and events! Through all of 2017 we continued to promote and represent the broker brand and our members throughout Toronto and the GTA

Friendship Night was as always a huge success and this year the IBTR incorporated Canada’s 150th Birthday into our theme. Our annual Golf Tournament was a great success, being blessed with not only a great turnout by our members but also by the weather which was wonderful – we are hoping the same for 2018! We built on that momentum with a fantastic Summer Social at Dave and Busters. Our entertainment for our holiday luncheon was The Dave Murphy Band, who brought entertainment to all in attendance.

We have been actively building and promoting the broker channel in Toronto and supporting members of our community through several different charitable organizations. We were a lead sponsor of Canadian Network Broadcasting in an ad campaign for Distracted Driving that ran throughout the summer on local radio stations. We participated in the East York Canada Day Parade and were also a lead sponsor for the event. We expanded our sponsorship of grassroots sports teams as well, by sponsoring eight local house-league teams in the GTA for various different sports. The board and some local brokers gathered again this year, with assistance from Million Dollar Smiles, to build a playground for a terminally ill child. We once again donated to a very worthy cause: the Vaughan Food Bank. These are a few of the larger events that we participated in and I could go on, but won’t.

What’s in store for 2018? To begin with we will be continuing our complementary tickets with your membership. We’re still working on our website to make sure it’s as accessible and user friendly as possible. We have strengthened our partnership with Seneca College to bring you Work-Integrated Learning Students available for the summer, and will be attending their career fair to promote awareness of the broker brand. Our Golf Tournament is set for June 6, 2018 and our Summer Social is in the works. Keep your eyes and ears open for more news from us!

We look forward to seeing you during 2018.

Paper Invitations Ceased

Dear Members & Sponsors,

In an ongoing effort to streamline our communications and reduce our impact on the environment, the IBTR Board of Directors decided to stop mailing paper invitations for our luncheons and events, to brokerage and sponsor offices. This has allowed us to keep our costs relatively low, as we continue to bring the most value out of your membership dollars. We continue to notify you via email and through our website, so please ensure that any and all members who would like to receive our email invitations subscribe to our IBTR email list. You can easily do so by completing the “Subscribe to our e-mailing list” area at the bottom of this page.

Your Board of Directors,
